Innovative solutions
In our business, research is not really scientific.
What we do is try to meet our customers' specific requirements, continually seeking to improve the quality, taste and convenience of our solutions.
At Lutosa, rather than just a department, R&D is above all the work of a committee that meets every fortnight and includes general management and various section heads (production, sales, quality, marketing, etc.). Market requirements or trends are analysed one by one, with everyone contributing their point of view. It is an effective approach, as decisions are taken jointly at the end and customers receive feedback very quickly.
Our research and development department is innovative in all aspects of quality of taste, appearance and nutrition. Lutosa has developed many exclusive recipes: the famous Pom' Pin, Rösti with bacon, cheese or vegetables, Tartiflette and Aligot, as well as (seasoned) Bintje mashed potatoes, Mashed potatoes with Basil (using olive oil and fresh basil) and Mashed potatoes with olive oil (using extra virgin olive oil).
By continually analysing market trends and organising comparative organoleptic tests with consumer panels, we are able to respond to the needs of consumers, especially those in search of healthier, better quality products. As a result, in September 2000 we launched our first range of organic frozen French fries, which was extended a year later to include organic potato cubes, organic wedges, organic oven croquettes and organic mashed potatoes. Another example is provided by the range of cut specialities developed in 2002 and especially suitable for oven cooking. Pre-fried in selected sunflower oil, they have a reduced fat content (Roast Potatoes,
Patate al Rosmarino).
Lastly, we also have a range of products aimed especially at children (Patat'Zoo, Patat'Croc, Patat'School, Patat'Galaxy et Patat'Kids), which can be prepared in either the deep-fat fryer or the oven. Our increasing encouragement of this latter method of preparation in the development of our ranges (2-way cook fries, rösti, etc.) is a response to growing demand from consumers who want to reduce fat consumption without giving up any of their enjoyment.
The innovation, imagination and dynamism displayed by Lutosa have won it several awards:
