Responsible manufacturing: short supply chains, added value and efficiency

Since our base in Belgium, we’ve been working hand-in-hand with local farmers, favoring local sourcing that’s more respectful of the environment. To support local agriculture and reduce CO₂ emissions, we have opted for a local sourcing strategy. Most of the potatoes used on our production lines come from Belgium (up to 70%). Our farmers are located on average 150 km from our facilities. This not only guarantees us a quality potato, but also helps to limit transport-related emissions.

But our commitment doesn’t stop there. We have put in place a series of concrete initiatives to make our production sites more efficient and less energy-consuming:

  • Recovery and reuse of all potato components (peels, starch, organic waste) for animal feed or green energy.

  • Investments in water recycling and emissions reduction technologies

  • Increasing the share of renewable energy in our energy mix


The result is a production method that combines high industrial standards with a commitment to the environment, to the benefit of the entire sector.

Reducing food waste through product quality

Food waste is a major issue in the catering industry. In response, Lutosa is developing products designed to optimize kitchen performance and reduce waste, such as the UltraCrunchy range.

Our fries are renowned for their perfect baking properties: they remain crisp, golden and appetizing, even after several minutes in a hot basket, under a hood or on delivery. This resistance to loosening is essential to avoid losses due to visually degraded or less crisp products, often discarded in the kitchen or returned by customers.

What’s more, our consistency of size and quality enables restaurateurs to standardize portions, better manage stocks, and limit consumption variations. Fewer rejects, less offcuts, fewer soft fries = greater productivity, greater sustainability.
